Your chance to play for Rangers against Celtic

Last updated : 20 January 2006 By Grandmaster Suck
Carling are looking for Celtic and Rangers fans (over 18) who think they have the passion, skills and fitness to play a full game of competitive football at the homes of their heroes. The competition involves a series of training days where fans and their mates will be put through their paces by Rangers and Celtic coaches, with the best at each stage progressing through to the next round. It will be a dream come true for the final 28 Celtic and 28 Rangers fans who will form a Celtic ‘home’ and ‘away’ squad to play at Celtic Park, and a Rangers ‘home’ and ‘away’ team to play at Ibrox. Carling have pulled out all the stops to make the final match day an unforgettable experience for those who make it through. Just like the pros, the teams will arrive at the stadium by coach, and change in the first team dressing rooms where their own full team kit, individually named and numbered, will be hanging waiting for them. The teams will then follow in the footsteps of their heroes through the tunnel for their 90 minutes of football fame in front of their adoring fans. The game will be professionally filmed, so everyone gets a DVD of their performance to keep as a unique memento of the day. Last year’s event proved to be a fantastic experience for the winning players. Chris Quinn, 27 from Barrhead said: “So many great players have graced the Celtic turf and all the top European teams have played there, I can’t believe I got my chance.” Stewart Wright, 26 from Bonnyrigg added: “It was one of the best weeks of my life! I never thought I’d play and score a hat-trick at Ibrox, but now I have.” Recruitment for the first stage of Carling Play on the Park is now underway, and football fans who fancy their chances can enter in a variety of ways. Winning places have been set aside for the promotional Carling 6 packs which can be found in supermarkets and off licences throughout Scotland now, from Carling pubs throughout February, and for fans who log onto www.carling.com . Martin Coyle, Carling Head of Sponsorship said: “Carling want to use their sponsorship of the Old Firm to help fans get closer to their club and give them some fantastic memories. This year we’ve increased the numbers for the first trial stage so that more fans have the opportunity to be involved. Last year’s Get Your Kit On proved to be an amazing experience for those who took part, some of last year’s winners said it was the best day of their life, and for one it was up there with the birth of their child!” It’s a once in a lifetime chance for old firm fans to live the dream, so if you’re over 18, check out your local Carling stockist or log on to www.carling.com for more details.
