Weekend Horse Racing With The Sheik

He has acing weight and I think he will win. Tempsford and Go Tech are two likely to challenge with Mith Hill another possible.

The first race on the card can go to soft ground loving Soyuz. He has run a few shockers this year but with the ground coming in his favour he can win here. It is a very open race but he should be a decent price.

The Wentworth Stakes at 2.20 can go to the admirable Quito. He will need the race to be run at a fast pace, but given that he can prove too strong for Royal Storm and Ruby Rocket who look to be his biggest dangers.

I like the look of Foreign Affairs in the Serlby Stakes over 1m 4f. He has much the highest rating of those involved and will surely take the beating here. The last race on the card is short on numbers but we should see an excellent race between Sendintank and Cambridgeshire winner Contact Dancer. I think Sendintank may have the edge here but Contact Dancer won the Cambrideshire well and may well have more to offer.

I’ll be at Ayr tomorrow and hope that Lennie Lungo can provide a couple of winners in Paddy The Piper and Brooklyn Breeze. His horses have an excellent record at Ayr and these should be two to follow for the season.

There are some decent races at Wincanton where Comply or Die will bid to redeem his reputation in the Novice’s chase. He will need to be near his best to defeat First Ballot who has won his last four races. However, if he is as good as his trainer believes he should not have too many problems winning here.

Rigmarole bids to supplement his recent Kempton success in the 3.40. He probabl;y should win, but it is a handicap and he might get a bit of a fight possibly from stablemate Albuhera but most likely from the chaser Hand Inn Hand if he is fully wound up for this. The problem with anyone wishing to back Hand Inn Hand here is that this is probably an exercise gallop for next week’s Paddy Power Gold Cup.

Finally the Badger Ales Trophy sees Gunther McBride trying to build on his recent Kempton success. He has a good weight and his confidence may well have been restored. Course specialist Swansea Bay and Double Honour will make this a difficult task. If Gunther McBride can build on his first win in almost two years he should be able to take this valuable prize.
