Walking The Somme for Erskine Hospital

Last updated : 16 June 2010 By Grandmaster Suck

My name is John McCann and as a proud Rangers fan and patriot I`ll be Walking the Somme in July to raise money for the Rangers Supporters Erskine Appeal. This charity has raised over £100,000 in its 3 year existence for the Erskine Home for ex-service personnel - http://www.erskine.org.uk .  As a member of the Dublin Loyal Rangers Supporters Club we have helped with this fantastic charity previously but this time I`m going it alone.

I intend to walk around 20+m from Albert and will take in Baupame Post Cemetery, Pozieres Memorial, Tynesiders Memorial Seat, Lochnagar Crater, 19th and 34th Division Memorials, Flat Iron Copse Cemetery, 38th (Welsh) Division Memorial, Caterpillar Valley Cemetery, New Zealand Division Memorial, Pipers Memorial in Longueval, South African Memorial, Cameron Highlanders and Black Watch Memorial, 47th (London) Division Memorial, Glasgow Highlanders Cairn, London Cemetery, Canadian Memorial, Australian Memorial, Thiepval Memorial to the Missing, 18th (Eastern) Division Memorial, Ulster Tower Memorial, the resting place of Pte Billy McFadzean VC, Ancre Cemetery, Newfoundland Memorial Pk, 51st (Highland) Memorial.

I`m hoping to spend a little time at various Cemeteries to take photos for anyone who wishes them and i`ll also lay a poppy (if requested) at individual headstones.

I hope all my friends from followfollow and beyond will help support me in this small endeavour for the RSEA. Anything you can give would be greatly appreciated by myself and Erskine.

Thanks in advance,
John (Ashbourne Loyal)
