Travis' Tartan Trek along Speyside Way

Last updated : 06 February 2005 By Grandmaster Suck

Last year, Travis and Scott completed the 97-mile West Highland Way, raising £11,000 for The Guide Dogs for the Blind Association and now they are upping the challenge.

Scott commented; “ I love walking so much that Travis was specially chosen for me because of his fitness. He was so brilliant on our walk last year that we just had to do it again – but of course make it a little bit harder.

“My guide dogs have given me back mobility and independence and also confidence – and so I want to do this fundraising walk and raise as much money as possible for Guide Dogs”.

Scott and Travis’ 110-mile journey starts from Aviemore, on Saturday March 26 and finishes in the fishing village of Buckie, north east Scotland on Saturday 2 April. They are hoping to travel an average of 12-miles a day and will be staying in hostels, accompanied by five sighted guides, Scott’s colleagues.

Sharon Morgan, Guide Dogs’ Local Fundraising Co-ordinator, added, “ It is wonderful that Scott and Travis are taking on this challenge to help us raise funds for training new guide dogs. It costs £10 a day to breed, train and support each guide dog and there are currently almost 5,000 guide dog partnerships in the UK.”
