Tips For Cheltenham Day Three

The Stayers Hurdle looks a match between Baracouda and Iris's Gift first and second last year. My clear preference is for Baracouda although there was only ½ a length between them last year. Crystal D'Ainay and Sh Boom are best of the new crop whilst Holy Orders could run into a place if in a co-operative mood.

The Hunters Chase at 4.00 looks at the mercy of Lord Atterbury on what could be a reasonable day for favourites. He has mainly older foes to beat including Earthmover and County Derry.

The first race on the card is the JCB Triumph Hurdle and is very difficult to sort out Trouble at Bay and Tusk are two with seemingly good chances along with Moulin Riche and Mondul and highly rated Dalaram.

Palarshan has a good chance of repeating last year's win in the 4.35. Others to consider are Latalomne, Santenay and the recently returned Simply Gifted and St Pirran. This race is usually run at a very strong pace so you will need something that stays well. In this case last year's winner has shown the necessary credentials and can succeed again.

The Cathcart Chase at 5.10 is difficult to weigh up at the moment in terms of who is likely to be in the field. The ground may not be suitable for La Landiere or Le Coudray but Impek, Iris Royal and, if he runs, Our Armageddon all have decent chances.

The last race is the County Hurdle. Rigmarole has been declared but is unlikely to run. If this is the case then the horses nearer the top of the handicap could benefit. porazene, Limerick Boy and In Contrast would all have decent chances. One touted for some time is Harchibald and although not at the right end of the weights it could prove best to stick with him.
