Rangers Football Club has today teamed up with new, highly-rated Glasgow band Vigo Thieves - who will donate the profits from their debut single 'Won't You Be Mine' to the Club's Youth Academy.

The Rangers-supporting group - Stevie Jukes (lead vocals and guitar), Alan Jukes (drums), Gordon Phipps (Bass) and Barry Cowan (lead guitar) - are heavily influenced by The Stokes, Arctic Monkeys and Oasis and release their eagerly-anticipated single on 16th November, 2009 ahead of their debut album in early 2010.

Assistant Manager Ally McCoist is urging the Light Blue legions to show their support for Vigo Thieves and the Youth Academy by downloading the single which will be available from Itunes, emusic, Napster, 7 Digital, Amazon MP3, Play and all good digital stores.

Ally, who is a huge music fan, commented: "I had a chance meeting with the lads at a recent gig and I really love their new single. They are all lifelong Rangers fans and it is a fantastic gesture from them to donate the profits from 'Won't You Be Mine' to the Club's Youth Academy. I would encourage our fans to support Vigo Thieves and buy the single as soon as it's available.

Vigo Thieves will be guests of the Club at Saturday's SPL game with Aberdeen at Ibrox and will be introduced to the crowd at half-time.

Stevie Jukes from the band commented: "It will be a real honour to take a bow at Ibrox this weekend. The band and our families are all lifelong fans and it will be fantastic to grace the turf of our heroes. I would also like to thank Rangers Football Club for all their support and we hope everyone likes our new single."

ABOUT VIGO THIEVES

Vigo Thieves were born in the autumn of 2008. A young quartet inspired by great music, great nights out, great laughs and a dedication that the only reason we play in a band together is for the love of it and nothing else. Steve, Barry, Gino and Al have been mates for years and have been jamming both together and apart on different projects throughout this time.

In mid September 2008 the band decided to knuckle down after deciding on what kind of sound they wanted to achieve they began an intensive rehearsal schedule and recorded some home demos which soon became hot property amongst their friends and early supporters. This was followed by some early gigs at local venue Starka in Motherwell before heading into Glasgow to play headline sets at Pivo Pivo, The Renfrew Ferry and the illustrious King Tuts Wah Wah Hut.

The band have just finished some new recordings at one of the UK's biggest studios, CaVa in Glasgow. They band have worked hard with legendary producer Brian McNeil who played keyboard for 80's sensation China Crisis and has worked with major acts from Belle and Sebastian, Simple Minds, Biffy Clyro to name a few.

Right now is a very busy time for the boys. They are currently writing and recording their debut album which will be due out at the turn of the year. Their first single from that album, 'Won't You Be Mine', will be released on the 16th November on Little Big Shot Records. Simon Williams, the man who signed Keane and Coldplay, has likened Vigo Thieves to the next Glasvegas and New York rockers The Strokes, and has been so impressed that he is keeping tabs on the boys for the future.

Over the next few months the boys have some prestigious gigs planned in Glasgow, London and Manchester so get on the Vigo Thieves bandwagon now before there's no seats left!
