The Dodgy Double

Last updated : 30 January 2004 By Grandmaster Suck

We're resurrecting an old FF favourite this weekend with the Grandmaster risking his reputation and ridicule to predict a pair of bets - but with the twist that they are returning odds of at least 2/1 on each fixture.

Any Muppet can predict wins for Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United but it takes a real donkey to risk public ridicule predicting riskier returns.

My picks this weekend are Everton and Dundee.

Liverpool vs. EVERTON @ 9/2
Everton have a dreadful recent away record but the short trip across Stanley Park is more of less a home game - and on that basis Everton have won two, lost one and draw one of their last four games. Not as impressive as Liverpool's recent relative resurgence but certainly enough to make the odds appear very generous.

Hibernian vs. DUNDEE @11/5
The Dees certainly have their problems and Hibs have a relatively young side playing good football - it certainly looks like a very attractive game going on recent results. If you include cup ties Hibs have only won two out of their last six home matches. Dundee don't have a great away record with only one win in six - but their three draws in the same period hint at a misprice in the odds. Certainly their showing in last Sunday's Dundee derby is a good omen.

OTHER BETS TO CONSIDER

Aberdeen away to Motherwell at 7/4.

Sheffield United away to Norwich at 2/1
