That Monday Morning Feeling - Get In There!

I couldn't see where the goal was coming from.  In fact, I was more worried about us losing a late goal and was actually ready to settle for a 0-0 draw.  But I'd just started prattling on about draws killing us, just like they did last season, when Filip Sebo struck.

Ye-e-e-e-esssss!

Of course, I felt very sorry for our friends in the north.  They came to Ibrox, had their flag display and gave their team the usual good-natured backing.  Aye right!  Their songs about the Ibrox Disaster and Ian Durrant must have stuck in their throats when Sebo rattled in the winner.  GIRUY!!!

Maybe our luck is finally beginning to turn.  When Clark's late effort hit the post, I was looking right along the line of the shot and I still can't understand how the ball bounced out, instead of in off the post.  And full marks to Allan McGregor for reacting instantly to be first to the rebound.

At that moment I thought, maybe...just maybe.  But the clock was against us and, having missed a barrowload of chances, I doubted if another would fall to us.  Oh ye of little faith.

It had been a very frustrating afternoon, made all the more annoying by the linesmen's different interpretations of the offside law.  The guy on the Govan Stand side was prepared to let players drift onside and offside, delaying flagging until he was sure the offender was interfering with play, but the muppet in front of the Main Stand was as flag-happy as any I've seen in more than 40 years of following the Gers.

And the ref wasn't too clever either.  When Dado was man-handled in the first half, how Charlie Richmond figured that the foul had taken place outside the box amazed me.  It was just a case of the referee chickening out of making a big decision and that is a trait which seems to afflict a lot of the current generation of match officials.

When Filip Sebo entered the fray I hoped he might do us a turn but, to be perfectly honest, I was far from convinced.  It looked like being one of those days...another one!

Sebo puzzles me.  He is a whole-hearted player, of that there is no doubt, but so were Ally Scott, Martin Henderson, Colin McAdam, Sandy Clark, Marcus Gayle and, dare I mention his name, Egil Ostenstad.  I like my strikers to have a bit of finesse, combining effort and commitment with a cute and cunning streak.

But it takes all sorts and when a team is struggling to make the breakthrough, like we were on Sunday, there is a place for the battering ram approach.  Get in there, big man.

And it was good to see him acknowledge the Slovakian flag in the Blue Order section.  The Bear who had the flag got the player's jersey and I'll bet the story of how he got the shirt after Flip's late winner against the Sheepies will become a family legend in the years to come.

It was a great end to a day which might have seen Rangers drift further out of contention for the title.  Three valuable points were won and, who knows, a few months from now we might all look back on the weekend as the turning point of our season.

As for me, I never had any doubts in the first place.  Honest!
