Robert Colquhoun Mulholland - Remembering a young Ibrox Disaster victim

After close consultation with the family, friends and Glasgow City council, it has been agreed that a commemorative bench be placed in Victoria Park, Whiteinch, in memory of our absent friend Robert Mulholland.

Victoria Park is appropriate as it's halfway between the two parts of the city which featured in Robert's life - Partick where he was born and Drumchapel where he moved to with his family.

It is hoped that a short service to reflect on Robert's life will conducted, followed by the unveiling of the bench. This will be followed by light refreshments, with a chance to meet the family and friends of Robert.

The local housing association, Pineview, in Drumchapel, are also very keen to commemorate Robert. At this time it is proposed that a cairn in the Jedworth area of Drumchapel be erected. This area is where Robert was raised before tragedy end his life on that fateful day in January 1971.

It is hoped that £2000 can be raised to cover the cost of these tributes.

A final date has yet to be determined, as sufficient funds have to still raised. Friends who have pictures or other items of interest are asked to come forward to help mark the commemoration.
