Rangers suffered their second successive defeat in today's SPL Youth League fixture, slumping 0-3 to Kilmarnock at Auchenhowie.

The Ibrox men fielded very much an understrength team for the top-of-the-table clash, due to international demands and injuries.

The first-half was dire, with little to commend either side and precious little in the way of goalmouth action. Killie were well organised, and reigning champions Rangers had little in the way of creative play to open them up.

It was the visitors who stepped up the pace after the interval, hitting the Ibrox youngsters with two quick goals that effectively settled the game. Paul McGlinchey opened the scoring in 47 minutes with a close-range effort after Callum Reidford had parried the ball, then sixty seconds later John Paul Boyle
made it 2-0 with an opportunist volley that went into the net off the underside of the bar.

There was no way back for Rangers, Steven Naismith's flying header in 57 minutes making it 3-0.
