Rangers play in Belfast

Rangers have agreed to play Linfield in a pre-season friendly at Windsor Park on Tuesday 30th July.

This will be the first the Ibrox 1st team has played in Northern Ireland since 1984, since Rangers beat Linfield 4-0 thanks to an own goal and goals by Ally McCoist, Sandy Clark and Derek Ferguson.

Although a Rangers legends Team did play in Belfast Last May, which included Andy Goram, John Brown and Graham Roberts in front of a 10.000 crowd.

The Linfield team is well known as the Rangers of Northern Ireland, so the game should be a complete sell out.

Rangers commercial director Martin Bain said: "It's great  that we will be taking the first team to Belfast.

"I recently sat down with Alex McLeish to organise the pre-season itinerary and I stressed to him the importance of the support we have in Northern Ireland.

"We receive tremendous loyalty and backing from fans over there who have to undertake a lot of travelling to follow the team, so this match is for them."
