Rangers Ladies in Scottish Womens Cup Final

Last updated : 28 April 2009 By Rangers Ladies
Rangers edged out the experienced Spartans 6-5 (aet) in the Semi Final.

Everyone was aware of the quality Rangers possessed, with the first division leaders squad scattered with Scotland youth internationals.

But Spartans have been flying in the Premier League this season and remain unbeaten at the top level.

However an undaunted Rangers went out to prove to the footballing world why they'll be a welcome addition to the Premier League next season.

The sides were tied at 4-4 when the final whistle arrived but in a dramatic extra-time period worthy of any classic cup tie, Rangers edged it.

Their opponents in the final were decided the previous evening at Toryglen when Glasgow City brushed past Hamilton Accies 8-1.

With Rangers enjoying their first ever final and City looking to claim the cup for the third time in their history the final will be an interesting encounter.

And, of course it will be live on BBC Alba for those who can't get along to Forthbank Stadium on the 17th May.

An excellent opportunity for new sponsors to get a boost ahead of next year in the Premier League for Rangers Ladies.
