Our new found attacking fervour.

Well well well, who'd have thought it?

Four games, sixteen goals scored and two conceded.

St Johnstone, Dundee United, Motherwell & Hibernian dispatched.

And two managers removed from office due to be being embarrassed by the mighty Rangers.

Ok, so that's not the sole, or even the real, reason for the exits of Levein and Gannon, but what the hell.

So what has happened?

Well, we swapped an attacking full back for a defensive full back which appears to have given the defence more solidity whilst not totally taking away the potential offensive potency.

This has allowed us to play two wingers (mostly) who can concentrate on attacking rather than defending. These wingers have very unique qualities within the Rangers squad: the ability to run with the ball and effectively play pressing football. One has excellent delivery and wonderful ball skills, the other has the heart of a lion coupled with pace to burn.

Bougherra's return has also played a part in this. While Wilson showed himself to be capable, I feel one or two of the team may have had an eye on him - just in case -to the detriment of their own game. With Bougherra this is not necessary.

Steven Davis finally looks like the player we know he can be. The shackles are off and he has four men looking for the ball at every opportunity. A far cry from having to cover three positions and, when eventually getting on the ball, finding himself with only Miller to hit up front.

Boyd and Miller have been exceptional. Love him or loathe him, Miller has been uncharacteristically clinical in the last few games. Kris Boyd is almost unrecognisable. What a turnaround. I'm one of Boyd's biggest fans (for his 'Ronseal' abilities) but he's adding strings to his bow at an astonishing rate. Some of his passing and link up play on Sunday was of a very high standard.

The manager HAS to get some recognition for this turnaround. He has set out teams in a way I didn't think he knew how to any more. It's almost as if he's finally realised who we are and what we can do and has just sent them out to play football.

Compare and contrast the Smith of 6-8 weeks ago. Disconsolate, dejected and downtrodden. Slumped in the dugout whilst we were hammered 4-1 by Romanian minnows Unirea Urziceni. Two days ago he was determined, decisive and dominant, jumping up to contest every decision and showing renewed passion.

The results and reactions suggest there's life yet in the old dog.

So there we have it: a few tweaks, a few alterations here and there and we look like a different team. We also have Mendes and Edu returning, hopefully with renewed purpose as they have important summers approaching.

As I said recently, a mere five games ago we had mutterings about this being the worst Rangers team in twenty years - now we have threads speculating on the possibility of a domestic treble. A touch premature as even five swallows do not a summer make.

There are two difficult tests on the near horizon.  Six points from those and who knows what can be achieved.
