Old Firm Joy For Gers?

Last updated : 03 January 2010 By Footymad

You have to think that a win for Rangers will all but kill off Celtic’s chances of winning the SPL. Paddy Power have 73 bets on the Sunday’s big game before kick off but the one that sticks out the most is The Rangers win at 15/8. Current form favours an away win, Celtics form as been indifferent and they are certainly not in same league in terms of goals scored. Rangers  have scored 23 goals in their last five games whilst Celtic have managed 12 in their last five league games.

9/4        Draw

15/8      Rangers win

The loss of Kenny Miller to suspension will mean Rangers are missing half of their deadly strike duo but Kris Boyd and Miller had been taking it in turns sharing the goals out of late so fans will be hoping that Sundays is Boyd’s day. Kris Boyd is now the SPL’s all time top scorer so he is the obvious choice, he leads the Paddy Power first scorer betting at 11/2 but think on despite all his bags of goals he only has one against the arch enemy. Old Firm goals are very special to both sets of players, a winning Old Firm goal can make you a legend amongst the fans. For a bit more value and looking for a player likely to be wanting to make a name of himself is De Marcus Beasley who is available at 14/1 to break the deadlock.

Rangers already have one Old Firm win to their name this season, another on Sunday would take them 10 points clear of Celtic. At Celtic Park last season Rangers were undefeated so go into this Sunday’s match full of confidence and there can be no bigger incentive for a Rangers player than being able to kill off rivals title chances with a victory at the home of Celtic. The goals have been flowing for Rangers so you have to think they’ll definitely score and that Celtic will find it hard to match them in that department.
