Learning from mistakes - Players and Instant Judgements.

Mark Hateley took pelters from the Ibrox crowd. He turned into a legend.
Ally McCoist was loudly told to go forth and multiply - we know what happened there.
More recently, we have the case of Amoruso.

Charlie Adam was the most abused player I have ever seen on FF, he then captained an unfancied side to the EPL.
Alan Hutton was the target of the boo-boys and won a £9 million move to the EPL.
Kenny Miller was left with no doubt the crowd and FF did not think he was good enough for Rangers: he has since proved everyone wrong.

On the flip side:

Jerome Rothen signed and people got excited, he was a diddy for us.
Mladenovic was touted as the Serbian Zidane, and was (insert your favourite expletive).
Sebo had FF creaming its collective gussets with a Youtube video or two. Another dud.

It certainly works both ways but people here and to a lesser degree in the wider support always jump in feet first toward a decision on how a player will perform for us. We have signed a young Rangers fan who has bags of pace and can play a few positions. He is 100% guaranteed to be desperate to do well and will soon be recieving far better coaching than he has ever had and be surrounded by far better players than ever before. He is 24 and by no means anywhere near his peak so stands to improve with the new set-up he will find himself in. He has replaced a player that nobody thinks would see much time this season (and another who was widely touted as a good signing) and will offer some needed cover across the back line while holding decent experience at SPL level.

Many will have written off already, with internet forums and workplaces distinctly underwhelmed places to be. Nobody, however, knows too much about the lad, afterall, except when we played Aberdeen people will not have seen him very often: maybe five minutes on Scotsport/Sportscene on a Monday or the odd televised Aberdee game.

He is coming in as much-needed defensive cover, will be on low wages and he will improve. It might work out and it might not, but people getting into their trenches before the ink is dry is crazy. He is here, let's give him a chance to make the breakthrough and leave the evaluation of his talents until he has at least pulled on that shirt.
