League Cup Final Betting Special

Before I go into the bets available, a word of warning. WATCH YOUR BETS. I mean take care, and know what you are actually betting on. Bookies shops are full of unhappy punters the Monday after a cup final, online bookies get inundated with emails, and I can guarantee you that at least one guy will be in the Casino section on here claiming that robbing bookies refused to pay out. The reason is simple. Almost all bets, unless stated, are for 90 mins play. If the match goes to extra time or penalties, it does not count.

Bets on Rangers to win, will be settled as a loser if its 1-1 and we win in extra time, or penalties. Bets on 3-2 will be a loser if its 2-2 and we win 3-2 in extra time. Bets on Boyd to score a hat-trick will be a loser if its 2-2 at 90 minutes, and he scores hi 3rd in extra time etc etc

If you are not sure, ask the cashier, or the shop manager. If its online, check the rules section, or email/phone customer services, BEFORE putting the bet on.

As you'd expect the markets for this one are tight. To win the cup, its 10/11 the pair (Boylesports best priced for us). Match betting is 7/4 each of us, (Boylesports again), with 11/5 the draw (Skybet). A Rangers-celtc game is one of the few opportunities to bet on us at odds against. If you can tiptoe through the minefield of HalfTime-Fulltime (90 mins play only!), you might fancy the 11/2 for Draw-Rangers at BlueSquare, or draw-draw at 9/2 with Stan James. Us to overturn a HT deficit and win in 90mins is 40/1 withSsportingbet.

Correct score could see value too. A repeat of our 4-2 win at celtc park in August is 125/1 with Sportingbet, a repeat of the recent 0-0 is 15/2 with Boyslesports. More likely, a 2-1 win is 11/1 with William Hills.

First Scorer is another minefield. First things, look at positions. Recent first scorers in these games have been, McDonald (twice), Cousin, Nakamura, Thomson, Novo, Boyd, Ehiougu, and Graveson(twice). So don't expect a defender to get first goal. Big Ugo's goal is the only one that fits that category in last 3 seasons. Before that we need to go back 2 seasons to Vignal's at celtc park. I'm back to 2001 before I can find any other time it happened. Not saying it won't, but the odds are not favourable. Taking that into account, you then have to work out managers selections, and see what you have left, maybe 6 players or so in each team. Rangers players bets prices are Boyd (11/2 - Betfred), Miller (7/1 Hills), Novo (8/1, Tote), Lafferty (9/1 BlueSq), Fleck (9/1 Tote). As you can imagine McDonald is only 6/1, if you really want to bet that.

One interesting point is that 0-0 is best priced 15/2, but no goalscorer can be got at 8/1. Reason for that to be value is that own goals do not count in 1st scorer market, so you get 2 chances to win, 0-0, or 1-0 with an og, but its a better price!

I personally will not be betting on this game, but I know many do. For me it's too unpredictable. If you do, please make sure you check the rules first, especially on some of the weirder markets. Be nice to know you've won a few quid as you watch Barry Ferguson lift the cup on Sunday night!
