Fixed Odds/Spread Betting w/e 11th Oct

Last updated : 10 October 2003 By King Midas

Not a lot going on on the domestic front this weekend with the last of the Euro 2004 qualifiers going on. I am not a great one for betting on Internationa games but it looks like there are some value bets to be had this weekend.

Austria v Czech Republic

Austria's hopes of qualifying are long gone and the Czech's are 3 points clear of Holland at the top of the group. An away point for the Czech Republic will ensure they finish top of the group. Expect a dull kick about and a share of the points available at 11/5.

Sweden v Latvia

Sweden will finish top of the group regardless of the outcome of this one. A 3 way dogfight for 2nd place between Latvia, Poland and Hungary should make it an exciting finish to the group though.
I don't think the Swedes will be too interested in busting a gut for 3 points here but neither do I think Latvia are good enough to secure an away win. Go for a draw at 11/4

Bosnia- Herzegovina v Denmark

A 'must win to have any chance' game for the Bosnians while one point will see the Danes through. Romania also stand a chance of topping this group but 1 point will do for the Danes. Another draw at 11/5

Wales v Serbia & Montenegro

Poor old Wales, after a great start it looks like they will have to settle for a play off position unless Azerbaijan pull off a shock win in Italy (50/1 if you fancy it). Wales still need the 3 points to keep the pressure on the Italians though and the Serbs have nothing to play for. Very generous odds of 11/10 for a home win

Cyprus v Slovenia

No matter what the outcome of the other games in Group 1 France will finish top, Slovenia 2nd. This could well fall into the category of 'pointless kick about' as there is nothing at stake but I suspect the Cypriots might sneak a home win and at 5/2 it is worth the risk.

5 To Follow

Only Hull (2/7) are in action out of the 5 to follow, I don't think it is worth the bother this weekend.

Spread Bet

Last weeks performance at Ibrox put paid to the recommended spread bet, I have to admit I took a right hammering on bookings points, total goals, shirt numbers, time of 1st goal, you name it I took a battering on it.
The most interesting, game spreads, wise is the crunch game in Group 7 between Turkey and England. The spread on offer for the 'Time of 1st Goal' is 37-40 I suggest a BUY at £1 on this market. Basically if we get to 40 mins without a goal we are then making £1 a minute up until a goal.
England have had goalscoring problems away from home and it looks as if Owen will be missing. I would not be too surprised at a 0-0 outcome which would show a £60 profit. Be warned though, a goal in the 1st minute and you lose £39, only play with dosh you can afford to lose.
Gook Luck.
