Final curtain on a strange season

Last updated : 17 April 2010 By MUFASA

It's been quite a remarkable season what with the poor Euro run and some dull performances in the league yet we look like winning by an impressive margin in both points and goal difference.  We can be sure of one thing that the mhedia will be as excited at our 53rd title as goth at a Bucks Fizz reunion gig.

Having said that there will be few amongst the Rangers fans digging out the holiday suitcases finding their hands sweaty with excitement at what lies ahead if we have no new owner and no new plan. No doubt we will once again have the mhedia rubbing their hands so hard there will be a danger of self combustion in anticipation of what the next numpty to sit in the Yahoo hotseat's grand plans and great signings are.

It is really becoming too predictable, a bit like their pathetic attempts at what passes for sports journalism. Some of the putrid dirge they dole out is as insightful as a garage floor's oil stain, struggling to file enough paragraphs for your deadline story on a Gers game make up some crap about public enemy #1 Kyle Lafferty or if you are covering the dross of St.Midden v Falkirk just make reference to how somebody went down like Lafferty  that's good for a paragraph or two.  Reading a Spiers or Chic Young article is about as appealing  as celeb yahoo Suzanne Boyle in a mankini, they don't cover the right bits they should and you really wonder who is interested and why they exist in the first place.

Enough of the Yahoos and their mhedia disciples of dross for now, what is it with Walt and "Big Lee"?  It is not often I comment about team affairs but this one has me puzzled.  Every Rangers fan I know has an opinion on it and 99% of them seem to be of the same mind, get davis back into the central mid role and drop LM. We have by far and away the best midfielder playing in this country and Walt wastes him out right. Davis seems to have a great energy about him and an ability to run at a defence then pick out a well waited pass splitting defenders for one of our forwards.

There is also the December blip, the one where we played some excellent football pressing teams up the park with wide men feeding two forwards sweeping all before them, we all want to know why was that the blip and not the norm? Would that be a more insightful question for our lame duck mhedia to ask our manager, you know a real football question about tactics and team selection?

This may well be a moot point anyway as depending on who you listen to, and that includes walter, the bank have a plan we are not going to like and that could well be the sale of the likes of Davis. Worst case scenario seems to be a summer of discontent of Shakesperian proportions, next could be a London property developer with no previous connection to the world's most successful club?  Better stop there starting to feel as depressed as a Yahoo on April 11th this year.

Another thing to puzzle me and this is an ongoing puzzlement the kind that like the Yahoo adversity to soap it will never go away and like the yellow sweaty tide mark on his green and gray shirt is becoming more and more ingrained with every passing week/month/year. It is one I and many writers have touched on before, mhedia double standards and priorities.  In a season where a footballer parking his car on a supermarkets car park space can make a full 3/4page story you are left just astonished at what passes for "newsworthy" these days. Are they really so contemptuous of their own readership to think it is of any interest to them, it is hard to figure out who that reflects worst on the editor who approved it or the journalist who wrote it.

The same poorly parked player has been vilified to the point where he will probably come out lower in a popularity poll than Peter Tobin such is their vile hatred of all things Rangers. Yes Kyle could do things a bit better, especially in the goalscoring part of his play, but is he really any worse than others who have gone before him.  Lennon took a dive same as Laff and had Juanjo sent off only to see it rescinded, was there a like for like coverage?  Lennon didn't park his car badly but he sent threatening and abusive texts to the woman carrying his child, was there the same coverage?  Yet when he was getting abuse from the terraces it was sectarianism and it was rife in every club, where is the mhedia support for his fellow countryman Lafferty?

There has been much talk about 'the clearouts' -  for our great club it is to balance the books; and for the yahoos it is for their players being plain old horse manure.  There is one clearout that should be of the utmost priority and I am sure it is one thing most Rangers fans could agree on and that is a mhedia clearout.  A clea out of the myopic yahoo lovefest junkies, and let's start with the one we all pay for the BBC.  Lets get some impartial sports hacks in, ones willing to ask relevant questions about football, team selections, tactics.  Perhaps selling tickets to the funeral pyre of hacks and put the cash towards getting our club back on track financially. Now that really would give me an even broader summer smile already as wide as the Clyde.
