Celtic's Banners of Hate: What will UEFA have to say?

Last updated : 02 October 2009 By FF.com
Those of us at Ibrox on Tuesday may recall the UEFA-approved message read over the tannoy: all part of their 'Respect' campaign, running since UEFA's European Championships of 2008.

Respect seemed to be thin on the ground at the other Glasgow ground on Thursday, as club-endorsed venom, malice and enmity was expressed toward Celtic's opponents.

One wonders how this conforms with UEFA's stated position:

"the opportunity to highlight a concept which epitomises all of our work at the level of social responsibility - respect. Respect for opponents, in the cities, in the stands and on the pitch."

Commentator and co-commentator (The man who told us Celtic have not dropped any points this season) may have laughed it off, but it seems unlikely that the governing body will find it so funny.
