A thank you to the scaffolders of Glasgow

Our readers will recall the great work done by ChristineRST and adoniram raising funds (around £4,500) to help fellow-Bluenose George Simpson who was crushed under a bus before the Gers' Champions League clash in Barcelona.

George suffered horrific leg injuries and spent almost three weeks in a hospital in the city before being flown home.

George is a project manager for JR Scaffolding in Glasgow and at the weekend the scaffolders in the city held a dinner to help him out in the 29 club and raised around £20k to help George's rehabilitation. George has not been one to feel sorry himself and is back at work.

Both the internet fundraisers and the scaffolders report that Rangers FC have been magnificent in helping George - Sir David Murray phoning him to offer advice on his rehabilitation. The scaffolders would like to say particular thanks for help to Martin Bain and Donna McClelland for supporting the fund-raising efforts. Amongst other help the club kindly donated two trips with the official party to Athens for four days to the auction at the weekend. Scaffolder support on the night came from both sides of the Old Firm and Celtic FC also kindly donated strips and other items to assist, a sporting gesture for which the organisers are very grateful.

The scaffolders would like to say thanks to all who have contributed and best wishes to George and his family
