Brahim Hemdani was the hero for Rangers, as the French midfielder popped up with a wonder goal in injury time, to earn Rangers a 1-1 draw at home to Osasuna.

Osasuna may be basement dwellers in the Spanish Primera Liga, but the Pamplona outfit were determined to show that they were no mugs on their first trip to Ibrox.

A mere seven minutes into the game and the visitors had already tested Stefan Klos's mettle, not to mention the nerves of the Ibrox faithful.

Luis Gomez swung a delicious centre into the box for Carlos Cuellar to attack with fervour, but the big defender's header fell meekly into the arms of the German keeper.

The Gers learned nothing from this Spanish foray and quickly found themselves a goal down for their complacency.

The home defence was caught napping at a free-kick that was taken quickly, with the impressive Gomez again the man charged with getting the ball into the box. Raul Garcia was on hand to get the faintest of touches to divert the ball past Klos.

An away goal seemed to be more than the Spaniards could have dreamed of, retreating into their own half leaving Pierre Webo to plough a lone furrow up front.

The jeers began to ring around Ibrox, as the Gers struggled to construct any sort of attack, failing to get a single shot on target in the first match, much to the scorn of the home support who were beginning to get restless.

Rangers brought on Nacho Novo at half-time in a concerted effort to open up their opponents, but Osasuna were still a threat in front of Rangers' goal, especially with the Gers defence in a charitable mood.

Ugo Ehiogu dithered on the ball, on the hour mark, allowing Inaki Munoz a clear path on goal, only for the superb reflexes of Klos denying the visitors.

Rangers took heart from the efforts of the German custodian and broke immediately down the right flank. Nacho Novo delivered a teasing ball into the box that Cuellar almost turned into his own net.

From the resultant corner, Kevin Thomson forced Ricardo Lopez to produce a fine one handed stop to deny the Gers.

Ranges began to press the game more and almost got caught on the counter with ten minutes remaining but yet again Klos was on hand to foil Munoz.

Just as it looked that Rangers would have to travel to Spain with a deficit, Hemdani popped up in injury time to level the tie, looping his shot over the stranded Ricardo from long range.
