WEATHER PROSPECTS GOOD FOR CUP TIES

The improved weather in Scotland has removed any immediate concerns about the state of the pitches for tomorrow's Tennent's Scottish Cup ties. All of them seem set to go ahead as scheduled.

The Scottish FA has contacted the clubs today to check on the condition of the pitches, many of which were frozen solid a couple of days ago. All of them have reported a major improvement, and no early inspections were called.

The good news means that the Scottish FA's Cup Kids initiative will have another chance to involve local children. This is a community initiative to enhance involvement in football at grassroots level, and in the build-up to each cup tie there have been coaching activities for local primary school boys and girls. Over 3,000 kids took part in the third round, with the host clubs supporting the initiative to give added value to their tie in the community. The kids will have the chance to take part in half-time entertainment as well as enjoying the match.

Please note

Meanwhile, there have been some changes to the list of potential dates for postponed or replayed ties, which was circulated earlier in the week.

The changes are:
Ayr v Rangers, if postponed, will try again on 5 March.
Morton v Stranraer, if postponed or replayed, will be on 4 March.
Alloa v Falkirk, if postponed or replayed, will be on 4 March.
