U21 League - Rangers 1 (Johnstone 61) Livingston 1 (McPake 45)

Last updated : 29 April 2004 By Grandmaster Suck

The home line-up was effectively Rangers' Under-19
side, thus underlining the sheer pressure of fixture
congestion that may well cost the Light Blues this
season's Youth League Championship.

Rangers almost took an early lead when Graeme Watson
struck an upright in six minutes, but it was Livvie
who snatched the lead on the stroke of half-time when
a Charlie Adam mistake allowed James McPake to net.

The Ibrox youngsters levelled matters on the hour when
John Johnstone netted from a Scott Agnew cross.

The visitors caused problems for Rangers from
inswinging corners, and twice in quick succession
Brian Gilmour and substitute Alex McColl cleared off
the line.

Nevertheless Rangers finished the game on top with
Charlie Adam being denied an 86th minute winner when
his twenty-yard drive was touched over by goalkeeper
Allan Creer.

The draw confirmed Celtic as SPL Under-21 League
Champions.
