U21 INTERNATIONAL - SCOTLAND v NORTHERN IRELAND - FOUR-GOAL ROUT FOR YOUNG SCOTS

Last updated : 24 May 2007 By Southside Johnny

Scotland 4 (Adams 10, McAllister 70, Dorrans 75, Gilmour 82) Northern Ireland 0

Attendance 360

A sparse crowd of just 360 spectators included a
healthy smattering of Ulster fans, their
'Red Hand' flags fluttering in the evening breeze as
'God Save The Queen resounded
across the Maryhill ground.

It was the Irish fans in fact who contributed what
little atmosphere there was with lusty
renditions of traditional football songs.

The Scots, fielding strictly speaking an Under-20
line-up, opened the scoring in ten
minutes when Jamie Adams headed home a Ryan Conroy
corner.

It was end-to-end action thereafter, but Irish
goalkeeper Jonathan Tuffey, playing on his
own club ground, kept the score to just that one goal
until he was replaced by substitute
Trevor Carson after 65 minutes.

Five minutes later Scots substitute Rory McAllister
made it 2-0 when he forced the ball home following a
corner from fellow sub Brian Gilmour of Rangers.

The floodgates were open now - Graham Dorrans notching
number three when he cut in from the left following a
pass from his Livingston teammate Robert Snodgrass.

The goal of the night arrived in 82 minutes when
Gilmour played a one-two with Snodgrass before finding
the net with an eighteen-yarder.
