This Weekend's Horse Racing

His compatriot Power Elite may give him most to do after finishing eighth to Essex on his seasonal bow. He will come on for that outing. Marcel is an interesting runner from Martin Pipe’s yard but Roman Ark may prove to be the biggest threat. He won extremely easily last time, he has a light weight and though inexperienced he could be the one to beat.

The 3.35 sees Well Chief take on Azertyuiop. Azertyuiop has to concede 4lbs here and it might just prove too much for him on this occasion.

Two others who should prove worth following at Newbury are Arcalis in the 1.50 and Strong Flow in the Aon Chase at 2.25. He must win this to get back into the Gold Cup picture. He has Sir Rembrant as his main rival.

Ayr’s card on Saturday looks really inviting and without being too specific it’s always worth looking carefully at Lenny Lungo and Tony Dobbin here. However, the main race of the day could well go to Lucinda Russell with Strong Resolve who ran a cracker when second to Silver Birch in the Welsh National recently. He must go well here.
