FOREIGN REFS, FOREIGN TO US?

UEFA's idea about having a team of class A1 refs to cover important games throughout Europe seems a good idea on paper. But is it really ?

The first game that springs to mind is the Old Firm games. Funny how the papers were full of ex-Celtic players and managers comments on the idea.

Davie Hay .... "I wish this had been in place 20 years ago in my time at Celtic... At least fans would be unlikely to suggest someone from another country is biased."

This coming from the guy who threatened to take Celtic out of the Scottish league (and go to Dublin, funnily enough!) because of his blinkered view of Scottish Referees. And don't let him kid you now it was the standard of refereeing, it was his and Celtic's view of their paranoia of biased refs.

David Hay now sits in the stand, rather than the dugout as he does not trust himself.

Billy McNeill .... "I've changed my mind that any of them are biased. I don't think that's the case. I find it hard to believe they've time to say to themselves. I don't like that team, there not getting the decision."

What brought on this seachange Billy. What made you change your mind.

The blackshirt tactics of Celtic and their fans. Who have terrorised and tormented referees and their families over the last number of years.

From having them followed, checking their actions and decisions by a psychologist. To breaking their windows and threatening their kids.

Will foreign refs work. I don't think so. They will parachute in for the game. If they have not done any homework, they will not know the 'history' of the teams or the players. I would actually prefer a Scottish referee. Able to carry out his duties fairly and without pressure. At least he (or she!) should know the antics of certain players and officials of the teams involved.

Any other countries about to accept foreign refs? Does Holland have problems with the Ajax v Feyenoord game. Spain with Real and Barca. Italy with Inter v AC. Why does the Old Firm game seem to be the one that is perceived to be a problem ?

MON, TWISTING THE FACTS

O'Neil's blast at the football authorities over Celtic playing three games in six days. how it would effect their chances blah, blah, blah.

Lets look at the facts of the three games,

Only one player played in all three games (Gray)

Only two players, played in the Thistle game and one other game (McNamara, Livi game. Mjallby, Lyon game).

Eight players played in the Livingston and Lyon games.

Celtic's game against Livingston was brought forward 24 hours to allow the maximum amount of time between it and the CL game on the Wednesday night.

The original date proposed for the Jags game was Thursday 30th of October. It was postponed because Celtic were playing Killie in a BBC game on Saturday, the 1st of Nov. Then playing a CL match on Wed 5th of November. See any comparisons there Bears.

MON's in print as saying ..."The game for whatever reason, was postponed but it wasn't for the sake of the clubs."....

PRESSURE ON OUR BOARD

I'm not one for car park demonstration, we'll leave that to the Beast End brigade. But I do believe we need to put pressure on the board to alleviate some of the problems effecting our club.

What pressure or power do we have at our disposal. It all depends on who you aim for, or want to hurt. Its not the club, that's for sure.

My main aim would be at the businesses of our owner. Mr. Murray or his family.

Buy your burgers outside. Azure catering, looks like it has made a mint out of us and the club. It also used Rangers as it launchpad into the commercial world. Would it have been the success it is without Rangers and the connections it gave. I doubt it.

Buy your kit from the Rangers shops. Not from Rangers Direct, its part of Response Handling. Murray's company, no doubt gets a cut of the money Bears spend over the phone. Again Using Rangers name and past experience to forward his companies presence in the market place.

Once the money had gone and there was no more high profile buys. When Murray couldn't use his private jet to fly all over Europe. Inviting players to his home on the Channel Islands.

He says he stepped down, McCelland is in charge . Then why did Emerson say it was a fax from Murray that made his mind up to come to Rangers. Murray should be our No.1 target. He's targeted us for long enough.

McNEE - DELUSIONS OF ADEQUECY

I know I shouldn't, but I make a point of looking at his rants on a Sunday morning. It's a bit masochistic.

He can never go a week without trying to score against Rangers in some shape or form. His attacks on Gazza where disgraceful. The only saving grace is that we know Gazza couldn't give a f*ck. Lately he has been preaching that Eck, if he wants to save his career. He should leave Rangers.

His reading of the sectarian angle seems to be tainted. We drop the orange kit (disgracefully). Next thing he's hitting us again for Klos having the gall to wear an orange goalkeeper top. Not to mention our song, our history and our heritage. Remember we got it in the neck for having the gumption to outsinging the CL anthem at the start of the Man Utd. game.

Last week was a cracker. He tells us that "friends" of his were attending a wedding at the Bellahouston Hotel. They where unable to park in the hotel because the car park was full of Rangers fans cars attending a game at Ibrox. His friends had to park in the street, returning to their cars after the wedding (I hope they where not drinking). They found they had been ticketed, a possible £50 fine.

Gerry's response. Send the bill to Rangers. Its their fault.

You couldn't make it up.
