THE SHEIK'S SATURDAY SELECTIONS

Last updated : 30 August 2003 By The Sheik
A somewhat low key Saturday with just 4 meetings taking place in Britain.

The horse that catches the eye straight away is MORNIN RESERVES in the 4.20 at Sandown. As you will know he won the Gosforth Park Cup at Newcastle earlier this season and ran very well to be third in Ireland after that. He finished down the field last time but still showed his usual blistering speed early in that race. He should have his preferred rain softened ground and provided he gets a little lucky with the draw he should prove very hard to beat.

TRUE NIGHT runs in the 2.55 at Chester, that most unusual of racetracks in Britain. He has enough early speed to lie up behind the pace but he needs to be drawn low to avoid having to run right round the field. The draw at Chester is highly influential as the horses are almost always on the turn. True night has old foes Santisima Trinidad (who beat him last time) and Uhoomagoo to test him again.

Also at Chester in the 3.30 a listed race over an extended mile and 5 furlongs BARATHEA BLAZER, a recent winner in France reappears. This is quite a tough assignment but he looks up to the task and should run well. Again luck in running will be important to him.

Perhaps a speculative each way treble could produce a healthy return.
