TELLING IT LIKE IT IS - THE RACISM MARK WALTERS SUFFERED FROM

And Oul Erchie's account of Mark Walters' debut at the Cesspit back in 1988 certainly caught my eye. 'Sadly in Walters' first game at Celtic Park the first thing I noticed when he approached the famous Jungle underneath our commentary position was that bananas were being thrown at him and jungle noises chanted. Equally sadly, not too much was written about that immediately afterwards, as if amid the sectarian bitterness the throwing of bananas was a mere jest. The outrage about that only surfaced once he had been subjected to the same treatment from Hearts supporters in a later game.'

Well said Archie...but if my memory serves me correctly (it does, I've checked out the tape!), you weren't quite so indignant on the day in question. Never mind, better late than never. Can we now expect a few more Press Gangsters who continue to peddle the GFITW line to have a sudden pang of remorse? Don't hold your breath!!!
