John today teamed up with '72 Barcelona star Derek Johnstone, Broxi Bear and a group of Rangers fans at Ibrox to launch the supporters' 'Champions League - We're Having a Ball' campaign.

All major Rangers fans groups united to create the initiative. Rangers fans will sport t-shirts emblazoned with the 'Champions League -We're Having A Ball' logo and distribute thousands of stickers featuring the logo.

At the Ibrox launch, John Smeaton, said: "The games against Barcelona are very special to every Rangers fan and a great opportunity to show the world that our club has a tremendous support.

"The fans came up with the idea to celebrate these two matches with 'We're Having a Ball' theme and they want everyone to know they will be going to Ibrox on Tuesday and then travelling to Barcelona with one aim, to have a ball. "

Derek Johnstone added: "These games mean so much to our fans and thousands will travel to Barcelona. The supporters have got together to create a feelgood factor about the trip and want everyone to get the message across that Rangers will be going to Barcelona with a smile on their faces and to show what a great club this is."

As part of the campaign, a special fanzone has been created in Merchant Square for Barcelona fans coming to Glasgow for Tuesday's game at Ibrox. The zone will open at noon.

Broxi Bear and Rangers' cheerleaders will welcome the Barca fans at Glasgow Airport on Tuesday and Barca fans will be able to enjoy tours of Ibrox Stadium before being bussed to the fanzone.

Rangers community football coaches will set up a mobile pitch at the fanzone where the fans can enjoy a kick-about before Tuesday's match. There will also be computer games for visiting fans to use and Rangers-Barca merchandise on sale.
