Rangers cruised through to the Scottish Youth Cup Final with an overwhelming 6-2 win over Inverness Caledonian Thistle at ibrox this afternoon.

Some 1,000 spectators watched the Cup Holders romp to their third consecutive final - getting off to the perfect start in three minutes when Jamie Ness scored with a low shot from the edge of the box.

Goal Number Two arrived in 27 minutes when Danny Wilson headed home from a Kal Naismith corner.

The tie was effectively killed stone-dead in two minutes before the interval when firstly Kyle Hutton found the corner of the net with a near-post back-header from a Kal Naismith corner in 43 minutes - then Stephen Stirling sent a low twenty-yarder past substitute goalkeeper Keiran Wilson for Number Four.

Rangers' movement and skill had impressed the home fans - with left-back Greg Wylde outstanding.

Gordon Dick replaced Ness at half-time then three minutes after the restart Stephen Forbes substituted for Wylde.

A superb move down the left involving Naismith and Archie Campbell ended with a low cross that was stabbed home by Hutton from close range.

That was Kyle's last act, for two minutes later he was replaced by Isa Bagci who netted a superb solo goal in 72 minutes when he capped a fine solo run with a curling shot from the edge of the box to make it 6-0.

Rangers - having used all their subs - were down to nine men (with two off the park receiving treatment for injuries) when Stuart Leslie reduced the deficit in 82 minutes with a low twenty-yard shot.

Naismith took no further part in the game as the Cup Holders played out time a man short, conceding a further goal from the penalty spot with three minutes left on the clock when Gavin Morrison converted after Ross Perry was adjudged to have upended Nicholas Ross.

The Ibrox men nevertheless were through to the final where they will await the winners of the other semi-final between Falkirk and Hibernian.
