Saturday Horse Racing Advice It’s Champion’s Day at Newmarket on Saturday with a few very decent prizes on offer. The main event is the Champion Stakes itself and the likely favourite here is Oratorio from Aiden’s O’Brien’s yard. He has won two group one’s in his last two starts and looks the one to beat here. Rakti is more than capeable of winning this but it appears that the ground has gone against him and he may not even make the line up. The French filly Pride can go well after a disappointing run in the Arc and the Irish mare Alexander Goldrun has every chance if we can forgive her a below par performance last time in France. At the likely odds Alexander Goldrun looks the best value in the race. The Dewhurst looks nailed on for Aiden O’Brien, has two year olds have been carrying all before them this year and his stable selected looks to be the one here, whether that be Horatio Nelson or George Washington. The big betting race of the day is the Cesarewitch at 3.45. The buzz horse here is the Fallon ridden Afrad but his price is short though he has got an excellent draw. There are others with good chances though including Tempsford, Land and Stars, Escayola and Sergeant Cecil and Swift Sailor. I have a feeling that Sergeant Cecil can continue his excellent big race form and add this to his earlier successes in the Northumberland Plate and the Ebor. The Jockey Club cup at 5.05 gives Millenary the chance to wind up an excellent season with another group race success. He has most to fear from Lochbuie and on this ground Holy Orders. In fact if the ground is softer than good then Holy Orders could be the one. SELECTIONS NEWM 2.35 A. O’BRIEN’S SELECTED NEWM 3.10 ALEXANDER GOLDRUN NEWM 3.45 SERGEANT CECIL NEWM 5.05 MILLENARY ( IF WORSE THAN SOFT – HOLY ORDERS)
