RANGERS' YOUTHS PROGRESS TO LAST FOUR

Last updated : 26 February 2004 By Grandmaster Suck

Before a crowdof perhaps 1,000 spectators the home side got off to the perfect start when Bob Davidson headed a Ross McCormack cross into the net.

Rangers dominated the first-half without being able to
add to their score, but wasted no time after the
restart in going 2-0 up, McCormack being released
clear in on goal by a slide-rule pass from Andrew Dick
before rounding Bairns’ goalkeeper JC Hutchison to net
in 49 minutes.

Eight minutes later it was three when John Johnstone
scooped the ball home from a Charlie Adam cross.

With the game all but won the Light Blues lost
concentration long enough to allow David Harvey to
stab the ball past Callum Reidford following a corner
in 77 minutes.

The last word lay with Rangers however when McCormack
played a one-two with Davidson before rifling home
Goal Number Four in the final minute.

Hopefully tonight’s attendance will demonstrate to the
powers that be that it is well worthwhile playing more
such fixtures at the Stadium.

Rangers are joined in the last four by Kilmarnock
together with the winners of the ties between Celtic
and Aberdeen and Livingston and Hearts.
