Corby is in Northamptonshire some 350 miles from Glasgow but boasts the largest Rangers supporters club in england. The club has a very loyal and enthusiastic travel section who take in most home matches despite a round trip of 700 miles and are a regular fixture on the clubs european travels. All televised games are shown in the clubs bar and with children welcome and a great pint 50 pence cheaper than most pubs its a great place to watch the gers with like minded folk.

Corby itself began life as a small village in rural  Northamptonshire but was transformed with the discovery of iron ore in the 1930. So, the Scottish company of Stewarts and Lloyds  began quarrying and built the steel works, which very quickly attracted workers from far and wide but by far the biggest majority were from Scotland. As with most migrants they brought their way of life and cultures with them as they built a town of 50, 000 people and by the 1960s Corby was a boom town .

Over half the population was Scottish so it was no surprise that fans of the famous Glasgow Rangers travelled north to see their heroes on a regular basis and in the pre - car days buses had to organised to take fans to their beloved Ibrox. Out of this was born and built the Glasgow Rangers supporters club in Rockingham Rd which is testament to the pioneering spirit of the working class  Scots people who left Scotland in search of employment  and a better life for their families but never lost their love of Scotland and Glasgow Rangers.

Like many people my family moved to Corby from Glasgow when I was young but now I have kids of my own and though despite being English and having an Wnglish team they too have inherited my love of the Rangers and were in Barcelona with me as the teams took to the field .

So I look forward to seeing a few of you on the 16th and having a few beers and returning some of the fantastic hospitality I have received from so many of you over the years on my many travels north, WATP
