After the team's silver medal performance in the UEFA Under 19 Championship, the SFA wants to ensure that the Under 20s have every prospect of success as they take on the best in the world in their age group.

Tommy Wilson, who is Head of Coaching and Education at the SFA, as well as Jim Sinclair, Director of Football Development, are to join Rangers FC next week.

A spokesman said: "It is important to have continuity with a winning team, and we are delighted that Rangers have granted permission for Tommy to take time from his new post with the club to work with this special group of players.

"While we are sorry to lose Jim Sinclair and Tommy Wilson, it is an indication of how highly the SFA's football development work is thought of. We are currently recruiting their successors."

The new Scotland Under 19 team, which has its first round of UEFA qualifiers in October, will have a different coaching staff to be appointed and overseen by Archie Knox, the national youth teams coach.
