In Memory Of 66 Absent Friends

Last updated : 02 January 2003 By Grandmaster Suck
Nobody needs reminding that January 2nd represents the blackest, most horrific day in Rangers' history, and I think it fitting that we turn our thoughts to the families who saw in the New Year minus a member of their family. There will yet again be an empty chair at the dinnertable.

Is time a healer? I don't know; I'm not in a position to say I understand the grief of the bereaved. All I do know is I was hurting like hell when I saw and heard Mrs Easton reminiscing about her son in that programme about the Ibrox Disaster that was screened last January and can't even begin to imagine what she was going though.

So, when you come home from the match tonight, I'd ask you to just spare a couple of moments and offer a thought to the families who yet again have to live through events of 2nd Jan 1971 when their loved ones travelled to Ibrox in support of The Rangers but never, ever travelled back home.

To our 66 absent friends,

Lest We Forget.
