Flag Day At Tynecastle

For over a year the lunatic decision of Hearts main shareholder Chris Robinson to ban the flying of the Union Flag and the Northern Irish flag has been the subject of letters and debate. In view of his intransigence over this matter we as a support now have to take safe and sensible action to ensure that this sick insult to the flag and the generations who have served it.

Robinson has taken it upon himself to denigrate the flag of freedom by claiming that it is only displayed for sectarian reasons. That’s an insult that cannot stand.

So, if you feel willing and able, take a Union Jack to Tynecastle for the game and participate in a mass display of them as soon as the first player comes onto the field at the start of the game.

Don’t deface it with gang slogans, sweary words or support for paramilitary organizations – that would simply be playing into the Pieman’s hands.

Don’t be aggressive either in displaying it or in discussions with police or stewards. Behave with dignity. Surrender the flag only to a police officer – but make sure to take their numbers and insist on a receipt – and back up others getting grief by acting as a witness to any overenthusiasm on their part.
Supporters clubs should buy boxes of small flags for their members – all the cash and carry stores in the Kingston area have them.

The Pieman has shown himself to be unwilling to listen to reason and so we have no choice but to engage in mass civil disobedience to force the remove of this ludicrous rule.

Chris Robinson may be spitting on the graves of those Hearts players and members commemorated by the memorial at Haymarket who fought to defend the flag he now defames – Robinson is leading his club into oblivion both on and off the pitch – he will not be allowed to slander Rangers fans and the Union Flag and get away with it. His evil will not be allowed to prosper.
