Fab Four Football Forecasts

Last updated : 05 December 2003 By Bear Able

But first a wee word on the betting rules for those on
different budgets. The Fab Four always uses a £1 unit
stake for simplicity. The total stake for the foursome
and the four trebles within (five bets), is of course
always five times the unit. Some can afford more, but
quite often there are students etc on a more
restricted budget.

The minimum stake that most bookies will accept per
coupon is 50p. So therefore it is quite acceptable to
wager as little as 10p per unit on the Foursome as the
total bet amounts to the minimum required. However as
the returns are drastically reduced some punters opt
to drop the trebles and just bung their ten bob on the
foursome alone.

Whatever your chosen stake, or selections, it is
always wise to keep them level, i.e; bet the same each
week and thus ensure that you always keep your nose
ahead of the bookies over the season. Always bear in
mind, that using a same-stake policy, the bookies need
us to lose at least sixteen times before getting back
any of the dosh we have annexed from them so far.

And given our one-in-ten success rate over the past
two seasons that is unlikely to happen. This is from a
full fixture list of course. When there is very few to
choose from then a reduced stake is always advised at
the time or even no betting that week.

So to this weeks (All-SPL) Fab Four:

Aberdeen v HIBERNIAN 7/5 (Playing Sunday)
Dundee v KILMARNOCK 7/5
Dunfermline v HEARTS 6/4
Partick v MOTHERWELL EVS

Suggested bet: Perm four £1 trebles + £1 fourfold
=£5.00 total stake.

Trebles return:

Hibs/Killie/Hearts returns = £14.40
Hibs/Killie/Motherwell returns = £11.52
Hibs/Hearts/Motherwell returns = £12.00

All four returns £28.80 plus all four trebles
