Cheltenham Day 3

Last updated : 16 March 2005 By Followfollow.com

Today is probably the weakest day in terms of quality but interesting nonetheless.

The feature race is the Ladbroke World Hurdle at 3.15. Baracouda is easily the best horse in the race and should win. Rule Supreme finished fast and would have beaten Baracouda in a few more strides at Windsor recently and Crystal D’ainay has improved for the wearing of headgear but it looks like Baracouda should not be readily opposed.

The Festival Trophy at 2.35 is a new race this year. It looks likely to go to the Martin Pipe trained Our Vic. Thisthatandtother, Le Roi Miguel, Tuitchev, Hand Inn Hand and the old timer Edredon Bleu could all run well but Our Vic looks the one to beat.

The National Hunt Chase a 4m1f marathon at 4.40 can fall to Martin Pipe’s Control Man. He can be a bit quirky but the extreme trip should suit and a decent amateur has been booked.

The Pertemps Final handicap hurdle at 5.20 looks like a serious puzzle with many going in with good chances whether obvious or not. Basilea Star, Hirvine and The Bajan Bandit will all attract followers but if Broken Knights is given the go ahead he could be the one. He won well at Ayr on Saturday and is on top of his form at the moment.
