Federation Brewery Do Goes Down a Storm

Despite a deliberate hack job done on the planned night by a Newcastle Based
Rag the event finally went ahead after the organizers rallied round at the
last minute to assure the management of the Lancastrian suite that all would
be fine on the night.

On the Saturday before the tournament a female reporter called my house to
ask about the event but unfortunately I was out, she then contacted the DJ
who was booked to play who informed her he was not an organizer and
forwarded on my telephone number to her. I fully expected her to call me but
the call never came.

The next day I was called by a friend who informed me the MD of the Brewery
had been called to an Emergency meeting to discuss the front page article.
As it stood the event looked certain to be cancelled when a call came from
Glasgow Police who had been contacted by Gateshead Police came through to
us. Once we had spoken to the Police and explained the situation they new
straight away that if The Blue Order were running this there would be no
problems and subsequently got back in touch with their English counterparts
who passed on the message to the brewery.

All was still not well though and a Rep for TBO had to go down to a meeting
with the Brewery on the Thursday to confirm security for the event , problem
now was the security staff working for the brewery had panicked and resigned
and with no security firms available for hire within 50 miles of Newcastle
we now had to find our own event staff. A quick call to Grandmaster Suck was
made and he came up with the solution (Thanks Mark).

The night itself has to be said is one of the best I have ever been involved
in and despite a poor result on the day almost 1000 bears arrived ready for
the party. The bears were in great spirits as the Tyneside True Defenders FB
took to the floor followed by the Pride of the North FB who gave us all our
favorite Rangers tunes to sing along to.

A collection of £700 was made for the save our Sara appeal then singer Harv
took to the stage to top a fine night.

On speaking to the Brewery staff at the end of the night they told me of the
friendliest people they had ever had in their fine venue and welcomed us
back at any time in the future.

I look forward to being involved in future nights like these as it shows
that we truly Are the People and I look forward to meeting many more bears
who attend them.

Finally a big thanks to everyone who helped make the night a success none
more so than Sarah and Christine who spent most of the night in the foyer
selling the merchandise (We couldn¹t do it without you).
