A battle the Chairman simply cannot afford to lose

To be frank though, this article should have started with the
following lines;

'Sugar pie honey bunch. You know that I love you'

Because, when it comes to the sectarianism debate the boy Leckie
clearly can't help himself.

Let's cut to the chase. We all know that sectarianism is a bad thing
because it ends in 'ism'. But tell you what, Leckie excels himself in
another sort of 'ism' and that 'ism' starts with the letters 'rac'. So
in my humble opinion it ill behoves an English hating xenophobe, to
mete out lectures in morality to anyone. But Leckie is not so much a
past master of Lodge Don't do as I do, do as I say. He's sees himself
more as an Imperious Wizard.

In short Leckie thinks it is okay to hate the English.

Of course this hypocrisy is entirely in keeping with Leckie's skewed
worldview. You see Leckie was quite happy to allow his son to be
brought up and educated through the sectarian, apartheid, Education
System here in Scotland.

Does anyone else see a pattern emerging here? Leckie the English
hater and parent who allows his child to be educated in an apartheid
atmosphere says that bigotry is wrong. Is it any wonder that we cannot
take this man seriously?

But let's start at the beginning of his ickle article. He claims
that David Murray has made a lot of enemies for himself overnight with
his attack on sectarianism. Not so. In fact the majority of Rangers
fans I know, would tell you that the Eff Tee Pee stuff tagged on at the
end of our songs is not doing much good for the image of the club.

But what a lot of them will also tell you is that they object to the
blatant hypocrisy of the Bill Leckie's of this world. Lest we forget it
is the likes of Leckie and Spiers and Co. who have helped lower the
threshold of this debate with their double standards and cowardice.

I mean, just three months prior to this latest lecture by Leckie, a
Celtic player was caught on camera telling the Rangers management and
players in the dug out and Rangers fans in that area, that they were a
shower of 'Dirty Orange Bastards'. Not only was he caught on camera
spouting his bile, but also a lip reader confirmed once and for all
what we all knew anyway.

Now Lennon's behaviour that day can be excused away on only one of
two grounds. Either he deliberately set out to provoke the Rangers
support in what was already a highly charged and emotive atmosphere due
to the reckless indiscipline of his team mates previously. Or he gave
us positive proof as to what actually lurks within the beating heart of
a Lurgan RC, republican bigot. There can be only one possible
explanation here.

So naturally we'd have expected a keen hater of sectarianism like
Leckie to deliver a furious sermon from his moral high ground? Well
don't you believe it; Leckie like the other dregs of the Scottish
footballing press pleaded the 5th Amendment.

So let's see now. Leckie;

Hates the English

Allows/allowed his son to be educated in a sectarian environment

Has no problems with the Rangers management, players and fans being
referred to as 'Dirty Orange Bastards'

Again, this is entirely in keeping with Leckie's personal
prejudices. The following is what he wrote on Monday 8th April 2002
after the filth had clinched the league against a team managed by
pretty happy looking Jim Leishman.

And I quote; .

Leckie

8/4/02

Party Line Was Fine by Celts

1 - "Even the t-shirts were childish, the nah-nah-nah of the Milk,

Lemonade, Chocolate slogan a wee sneaky two-fingers up at Rangers.

But hey. We can let them off with a cheap shot. And don't kid
yourself

that if the flag had been going to Ibrox instead of Parkhead the other
lot

wouldn't have came up with a wind-up just as peurile."

2 - "It all left me thinking about a song they'd belted out in the
first

half, one of their timeless classics : Are You Watching Orange Scum?

What a ridiculous question. They'd rather have been watching their
own houses burn down"

So there we have it two cheap shots for the price of one by Leckie
and all in just two paragraphs.

What did he mean when he said that Rangers would have had a wind-up
just as peurile. In the previous 15 years, Rangers won the league on
twelve occasions and had NEVER resorted to the Sellik style of
graceless winning.

But anyway, that pales into insignificance with what he comes away
with in the second paragraph. Basically what is happening here is
Leckie refers to Rangers fans as Orange Scum. Now he's pretty clever in
how he words it but when he uses the phrase 'THEY'D rather be watching
their own houses burn down'. Be under no illusions, he IS referring to
Rangers supporters.

So let's recap, Leckie

Hates the English

Has no qualm with sectarian schooling

Has no problems with Rangers management, players and fans being called
'Dirty Orange Bastards'

In fact has even referred to Rangers fans as 'Orange Scum' himself.

Yet this guy has the audacity to lecture the Rangers support with
regards to morality and sectarianism and any other 'ism' you care to
mention? You just couldn't make it up.

Without doubt, David Murray has problems with a section of the
Rangers support and in my opinion those problems have increased tenfold
since the pathetic, childish and ludicrous ban on members of TBO at the
weekend.

But just think, if he had the conviction and will (courage doesn't
come into this debate) to tackle head on hypocrites like Leckie (and
there are worse out there without doubt) his problems with the Rangers
support would decrease significantly overnight. That's how easy this
fight can be.
